MOSQUE REYKJAVIK - Island (Competition)

The Mosque should be an inviting middle of the islamic community in Reykjavik.

With it’s prominent site, the building is embedded harmincally into the surrounding nature and is becoming a part of it. The two crossing cubes, that are creating the ensemble, should reflect the endless contrast of the different ways of life.

Every sunflare which is meeting the roof of the main building, creates an Islamic charter on the big front wall in the prayer room. The symbolic halfmoon on the outside is visable from the inside and should connect the interior and exterior.

Our design was awarded ftom the jury as one of four “Featured laudable projects”.
